Tipp: Wer nach dem Baal-Film noch gemütlich etwas esen oder trinken will, sollte auf keinen Fall ins Café Feynsinn gehen, auf der anderen Seite des Off Broadway-Häuserblocks, am Rathenauplatz. Der Laden ist nicht nur unverschämt teuer, uns wollten sie gestern auch noch beim Abkassieren betrügen mit höheren Preisen als auf der Karte.

Überall hingehen, nur nicht ins Feynsinn!

Die vom Filmclub organisierte Kölner Erstaufführung des bemerkenswerten Horrorfilms MASKS ist in Köln die erste und wohl auch letzte Gelegenheit, den Film auf einer großen Leinwand zu sehen, da er nicht in den normalen Verleih kommt.

Die nächste Vorstellung ist am 27. Oktober. 
Bis dahin dürfen die Fans noch pennen.

We were offline for ten Days and don´t know why, maybe too much erotics? Then it´s useless to go on, because the reason must be an US-Puritan or British Victorian point of view and we are a German Website.
There was no pornography, no big violence or other somehow politically uncorrect stuff, no Copyright trouble.
At the Moment we stop continuing this Blog regularly and investing work without payment because we dont know if Blogstop will cancel it for a second time. Anyway we administrate our Facebook Site "Filmclub Akasava Köln".

Black Cinema: A Tribute in 2013

Black is Beautiful - without any Doubt

Today it was funny, i planned to buy Pam Griers classic Foxy Brown in a store and just before that was the presss screening of Sparkle. Very entertaining, a bit kitchy and unreal, but worth watching, espeacially for whose who like Black Music, Soul and all that stuff. In 2013 the Filmclub will pesent several Films of Black Cinema, with Grier-Films, Sparkle and Films with Halle Berry, for example Monster´s Ball. As the fans know, it isn´t only her Oscar Movie, it has a Love scene where Halle is more in flames than the Hindenburg, not far away from Porn. Worth seeing it again on a big screen. Come to Cologne!    -    Kinostart von Sparkle 11. Oktober.

We got a new Theatre!

It was difficult as Devil´s Crossword in this bloody Town Cologne, but now, after two Months of looking around and talking to Cinema´s Heads, we were successful. 

We have about 18 independent Cinema Groups here like us, showing and/or producing Films, but only 2 of them with their own Cinema. In Cologne, Hometown of Eau de Cologne - remember that Scene in Gone With The Wind, where Vivian Leigh drinks it.  (-:   

And we are the 4th Biggest City in Germany, one of the richest Countries in the World, a City with big important TV Production Industry but with only 10 Movie Theatres playing everyday (with much more than 10 Screens of course). Together with the noncommercial Theatres, Culture Institutes etc. not always playing we have ca. 20, not much compared with Berlin or Munich. In Paris and Buenos Aires are more than hundred, ar far as i know, still resisting TV, Internet etc.

Believe it or not: Even our Fellows from the Washington Psychotronic Film Society don´t own a Cinema and are forced to rent one for their Programs. Maybe the Cineasts in Northwest State Washington own one.   (-:      

The Cinema´s name and adress will be posted soon. The people above are not us of course, it´s metaphoric.  We are not so many members and have no actual pics just now, sadly some members left us.

Emil Jannings - from Berlin to Hollywood and back

30 Years ago Fassbinders great TV Serial Berlin Alexanderplatz was screened in New York. The audience was impressed and compared Leading Man Günter Lamprecht with Emil Jannings. Emil who?

Sometimes it seems as if the Era of great German Actors ist over. That means that it should be a duty to remember the great Artists coming from that Country who amazed their audience. In Germany itself, only the Bourgeois People interested in Theatre or Film and the Acedemic Art Researchers still know the name Emil Jannings.
Starting as stage Actor, Jannings was supported at the Silent Movie Industry by Directors Ernst Lubitsch and Josef von Sternberg, he also was in luck to work with Murnau and became a famous Star. His style was the "male" type, strong, masculine and extroverted, but he also could appear shy and sensitive,changing from role to role.

 For a short Time he worked in Hollywood and got the very 1st Oscar for the Best Male Leading Role. His position in the 3rd Reich is debated controversal now of course, but Actors bound to their Language didnt have many other choices, for example Jannings coudnt continue his Hollywood Career when the Silent Era ended because of his accent (his Father was an US-American Businessman, but he spend his childhood in Switzerland and Germany). 
 Without any doubt he was not just another Performer with a huge impressive Body but also one of the greatest Character Actors in German Film History. He died in 1950.

Welcome at a brandnew Movie Website!

If the statistics are right, then the by far most viewers of this new website are in the USA. Many thanks to You all across the big sea, I (the Club´s Founder & Leader) always was a big fan of your fascinating Country in many ways. Sadly i have to tell that the Club´s main aim is Screening Movies in my Hometown Cologne/Germany. But sometimes general News from the World of Movies, of Cinema and DVD will be posted here which might be also of interest outside Cologne - in the US, UK, France .....  (-:   And the Future´s planing is producing and shooting own films, if we make it some will be shown then here of course or some certain scenes, so it will be interesting for you too. I finished my first own short film 2 Years ago.

During waiting for this, you maybe can enjoy the website´s nice pics like those of Actresses Dolly Dollar (see far below) or Soledad Miranda (see above Prophet, scenes from Der Teufel kam aus Akasava, our name-patron-movie). So you should go on clicking this website sometimes, enjoy the nice pics or texts (sadly most Americans don´t speak German, although many Families have German roots) or my bad English.  (-: 

Occasionally me or other Club members will write something in English, it would be great if we get some comments then as feedback. Maybe some own short Videoclips also will be shown here , but it needs time because the Filmclub has no own studio.

Welche Filme wollt Ihr sehen? Vorschläge können hier oder auf der Facebookseite "Filmclub Akasava Köln" gepostet werden.
Keine Vorschläge? Macht nichts, wir haben selbst Ideen in Hülle und Fülle, bleiben aber für alle Anregungen aufgeschlossen. Unsere eigenen angesagten Vorlieben sind der deutsche Film der 30er bis 70er Jahre sowie das Hollywood-Musical.
Wir gehören nicht zu den "orthodoxen Zelluloidisten" (eigentlich muss es ja Azetatisten oder Polyesteristen heißen), d.h. wir zeigen durchaus nach Möglichkeit Filme auf 35mm, es wird nur leider immer schwieriger, überhaupt Spielstätten mit den entsprechenden Projektoren und bezahlbarer Saalmiete zu finden; dagegen ist mittlerweile sogar die Regelung der Aufführungsrechte einfach geworden. Der Filmclub kommt nicht umhin, gelegentlich digital vorzuführen.

5 Jahre Filmclub Bali - Wir gratulieren!

Eine kleine Delegation reiste gestern von Akasava nach Hagen/Westfalen, um den Kollegen vom Filmclub Bali zum fünfjährigen Bestehen zu gratulieren und an der Feier teilzunehmen, so eine nette Einladung kann man einfach nicht ablehnen. Im Kulturzentrum Pelmke, einem früher als Schule dienenden schönen großen Altbau, wie es sie in Köln kaum noch gibt, veranstaltet der von Pelle Felsch gegründete und trotz hohem Arbeitsaufwand mit unglaublichem Idealismus geleitete Club im Pelmke-Kino einmal monatlich ein abendliches oder besser nächtliches Double Feature (Beginn normalerweise 23 Uhr) in der programmatischen Tradition des ehemaligen Hagener Bahnhofskinos Bali, abgekürzt Bahnhofslichtspiele - oder wenn man so will "B-Pictures als leckere Inspiration".

Was einen nicht zuletzt immer wieder umhaut, ist der Charme der Hagener, diese entwaffnende Offenheit, freundliche Art und Herzlichkeit, während man bei solchen Events in der Großstadt Köln von den sogenannten fröhlichen Rheinländern meist mit feistem Grinsen und Schulterklopfen abgespeist wird, und selbst das war oft nicht mal ernst gemeint. Städtischer Charme ist keine Frage der Größe   -   kein Zweifel, Hagen hat´s!

Die westfälische  Wunderfete bot als Höhepunkt etwas ganz Besonderes - nach einer Vorführung der Arte-Doku über die deutschen Edgar-Wallace-Filme, einem kalten und einem warmen Buffet durften wir den neuen Andreas-Marschall-Film Masks genießen, es war wohl quasi die NRW-Premiere; der seltene Fall eines gelungenen deutschen Horrorfilms, mit der knusprigen Susen Ermich aus Berlin (was man auch hört, vor allem beim ei-Laut) in der Hauptrolle. Der Regisseur und einer der Produzenten waren persönlich anwesend sowie Clubfans und Mitglieder aus anderen Städten wie meine Wenigkeit und Bea Lugosi, Urur-Enkelin ihres Urur-Ahnherrn Bela Lugosi.
